Donations welcome

Eight years ago, one of our members was diagnosed with breast cancer. As a club, we chose to support her endeavors, with the Lions Run for Hope, a Charity 5K Run/Walk fundraiser, which will take place this year on Sunday, September 26th. Our goal is to celebrate the survivors, encourage and support those currently fighting, help find a cure and support the Wellness House, which assists families dealing with all cancers. In the past seven years, we raised and donated over $45,000. All funds were distributed equally to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and the Wellness House. If you are unable to take part in the 5K this year, but would still like to support our cause, you can use this link and make a donation. Thank you. ? #SFVLions #WeServe #BeatCancer

2020 Race Awards

We still have 34 race awards that need to be picked up. If you took part in the 2020 Lions Run for Hope 5K, please check the category results page to see if you won an age group award. Due to the pandemic, the Stickney-Forest View Public Library District will not be letting people in the building, but you can still pick up your award using curbside pickup. Call 708-749-1050 to let them know when you would be coming.

Photos and Awards

The 2020 Race Gallery has been added to the race website. Select it from the menu to view all the race photos.

The age group awards are available for pick-up at the Stickney-Forest View Public Library, located at 6800 W. 43rd Street in Stickney, Illinois. Please call (708) 749-1050 to schedule a time to pick up your award so we don’t have a large number of people arriving at the same time. You must wear a mask to pick up your award at the Library.

Virtual 5K

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, many of our traditional fundraising opportunities like candy sales and pancake breakfasts are not possible.  But the virtual 5K race is something anyone can do, anywhere, and anytime. You choose the route and you choose when you do it. If you have been considering whether or not to take part in our virtual 5K, please remember that this will be one of our only sources of income that we use to provide the many services for our community.  And the in-person race will be conducted following social distancing guidelines if you would like to join us on the actual race day in Stickney.  Thank you.

2020 Lions “Run for Hope” 5K

As of this time , all indications from local officials are that we will be able to hold this event as planned on Sunday, Sept. 27th. This pandemic has had a impact on all us as well as the two charities that this race supports.

We thank everyone for your continued support of our run and hope to see you again this year. This year we are offering two options of participation. Join us for our 5K run/walk in person or participate virtually.

A virtual run/walk, is a real run/walk but on your terms: You choose the course and when you start. You may complete a 5k run/walk or participate any way that moves you.

Our number one goal is everyone’s safety. If the state guidelines change, any of the listed procedures are subject to change without notice. We have safety precautions in place to protect you and our many volunteers.

We will be starting the walkers a few minutes after the runners to help with social distancing. For all those who are concerned about their times, this is a chip-timed event so your start time is when you cross the timing pad.

Overall Awards will be handed out at the  event.
Age group awards may be shifted to pickup at the Stickney-Forest View Public Library at a later date during the week.
(this will be a race week decision )
